How Atmosflame was created - the development of the pellet heater
Share
The Atmosflame journey began a few years ago when we first stumbled upon the so-called pellet fire tubes on social media. These kits, with their rather unusual design, aroused our curiosity. But it was the moment when we first encountered a real product and saw it in operation that really fascinated us. The functionality was remarkable: the fire tubes required no electronics and worked almost CO2-neutrally through the combustion process of wood pellets.
The idea to further develop this concept was born. Since we are interested in sustainable solutions, we decided to approach a young engineering start-up from the Thurgau region - RHS Innovation in Tägerwilen - with initial sketches. The team, which was strongly committed to the promotion and development of sustainable technologies, was immediately enthusiastic about the idea. They threw themselves into the development with full energy. An exciting journey of tinkering, calculations and drawings began.
In order to refine the product, two young industrial designers were brought in, who created various mood boards and concept sketches with great creativity. In the course of this creative process, a design quickly emerged that would stand out from the others. This draft was continually optimized until the first prototype was finally created. But this prototype was still far from perfect: roughly hand-welded and marked by rust.
The team worked for months to refine this model. Every single detail was thought through and tested again and again to improve the product and optimize functionality. It was a continuous learning process in which no compromises were made.
After the prototype had been developed into a mature version, we started looking for regional suppliers to source the parts for series production. We found some components locally, while others had to be sourced from further afield due to the high complexity of manufacturing. It was a long road, but it was worth it.
It took almost two years from the first sketch to the finished product. Two years in which we learned a lot and continuously improved. But the work wasn't finished yet. We quickly realized that a number of accessories were needed for Atmosflame to work optimally. A trolley, a cover, special glass cleaner and a long brush - all of these things had to be developed or acquired.
Today, after many adjustments and tests, we are ready to present our product to the world. Atmosflame's market launch will take place during the Giardina 2025 garden fair. We are excited to see how our creation will be received by customers and are already looking forward to the feedback we will receive. It is exciting to see how a small concept has grown into a fully functional product that is now ready to conquer the market.
Atmosflame is more than just a pellet heater – it is the result of collaboration, creativity and a passion for sustainability. And the best part is that this is just the beginning.
